How To Use A fire Hose Reel

Wall mounted Type Fire Hose Reel

Fixed hose reels are the most common type in New Zealand. It is permanently fixed at the specified position and connected to the existing main water supply system through water pipes.It is important to keep the wall space on both sides free of debris so that the hose reel can move freely in case of emergency.

Swing Arm Type Fire Hose Reel

This is similar to the fixed type, except that the hose reel assembly is installed on a large hinge, and the entire assembly is usually installed in the hose reel cabinet. The advantage of this kind of hose reel is that the hinge can swing the whole reel out in case of emergency, and the hose can be retracted quickly to follow the operator.

How to use the fire hose reel

If installed, break the tamper-proof seal.
Open the water supply at the stop valve.
Extend the hose the required distance until a fire occurs. Unlike the flat hose, it is not necessary to run the entire hose.
Open the water at the nozzle.
Guide water at the bottom of the fire. Only use enough water to extinguish the fire; Otherwise, excessive water will cause secondary damage.
After fire extinguished,turn off the water at the nozzle.
Rewind the hose several layers. This is easier to achieve when there is still water in the hose.
Close the water at the stop valve.
Open the nozzle and release the pressure into the bucket.
Close the nozzle and place it back in the bracket.
